Dragon Descant 5 March 2018

Congratulations to the winners of the Korea Odyssey of the Mind competition! The team won against a very competitive field and brought home the top prize and a trophy. You can check the trophy out in the library.

Eury Hong, Jason Shin, Jacob Jeong,  Lucas Cho, Jason Tark, Jason Shin, and Jun Lee..and the 1st prize trophy!

Also, a double-congratulations to grade 11 Eury Hong, who has officially become a poet with her entry into the Creative Literature Magazine (No website, offline monthly literature magazine). Ms. Hong is now a published poet.

The World Leading Schools Association is holding its third student conference at our campus from July 16th to the 21st.  The conference is run by the WLSA student council and includes a platform for students to present their ideas to other students from different countries and cultures.

As we are the hosting campus for this conference, we are able to send a limited number of students for free.  See Mr. Wilkins for more details if you are interested in attending this summer, or if you would like to present at the conference. The theme for this year is "The Human Condition."

Thank you for ensuring that the library remains a place of emotional and physical safety for everyone. It is great that so many people are demonstrating the DRAGONS, especially those of respect and responsibility.
Respect:  Respect the space and the needs of people using the space.
  • Respect the needs of others and keep noise to a minimal.
  • At lunch, there are many people catching up on their school work, therefore it is not a place to 'hang-out' with your friends or play games.
  • Moreover, if you and your friends are walking past the library, can you please be respectful towards those who are using the library by keeping your voices low.
Responsibility:  We are all responsible for safety at KISJ.
  • Use your locker ... the library is not bag storage, please use your locker to store your belongings when you go to lunch.
  • Do not bring your bag into the library and ensure it does not block the entry. Bags blocking the doors are dangerous as someone could fall over them.
  • Chairs and couches, including those in the hallway near Ms Patterson's room on the 2nd floor are for people to sit on; use your locker for your bags OR take them with you to lunch.
From MONDAY, if your bag is blocking the entry to the library or not stored correctly in the library, it will be confiscated for the remainder of the school day (until 3.35pm).

Last week, no one was able to guess our DRAGONS Q&A faculty member, Mrs. Patterson!

We asked our HS faculty members a few questions and I’ll give you the answer. If you are the first to guess the correct faculty member, you’ll get yourself a donut!!  To submit your guess, reply to the email I send each week but remember to reply to me only.  Do not reply all.
Can you guess which faculty member gave the answers to the following questions?
What was one of your favorite songs in high school?

Where did you dream about traveling to when you were in high school?
What did you like to do with your friends in high school?
Play sports, hanging out at the lake and boating.
Do you have any interesting high school fun facts?
I played 4 varsity sports and was voted prom queen my senior year!
How many years have you been a teacher?
